ഒബ്ജെക്റ്റീവ്സ്

  • To root out ragging in all its forms in the college.
  • To create awareness among students against the inhuman practice of ragging and to foster in them a sense of sisterhood.
  • To punish those who indulge in ragging as provided for in the UGC Regulation concerned and the appropriate law in force.

FUNCTIONING

The ARC understands ragging to mean “Any conduct, whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy and undisciplined activities, which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the student to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.

Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in the entire institution, including its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, canteen etc.) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students, whether public or private. An undertaking should be filled up and signed by the student and her guardian/parent to the effect that she is aware of the law regarding prohibition of ragging as well as punishments and to the effect that she has not been expelled and/or debarred from admission by an institution and that she, if found guilty, of the offense of ragging and/or abetting ragging is liable to be punished appropriately. Before the first year students arrive, each year, the ARC conducts an awareness/publicity campaign against ragging, through posters, leaflets, seminars, street plays, etc.

The Induction Programme for the freshers compulsorily informs them about their rights as bona fide students of the institution and clearly instructs them that they should desist from doing anything against their will even if ordered by the seniors, and that they have nothing to fear as the institution cares for them and shall not tolerate any atrocities against them. Students shall report incidents of ragging either as victims or even as witness to any of the members of the ARC in the form of a written complaint. The burden of proof shall lie on the perpetrator of ragging and not on the victim.

PUNISHMENT

The ARC has the power to take strict action against those found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging. Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offense as established by the ARC, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be anyone or any combination of the following:

  1. Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
